THE SPECIAL AWARD IS GIVEN AT AN OFFICAL CEREMONY ORGANIZED FOR THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF TOURISM
NGO “Friends of the Black Sea” received an annual award for its contribution to the popularity of Bulgaria as a country preserving its nature and natural resources at the official ceremony organized for the international day of tourism. The ministry of tourism was the host of the event, which was organized in the scope of the platform Destination Bulgaria – “Bulgarian Municipalities – tourism, culture, business”.
The criteria used during the ranking were linked to the activities and good practices of each organization that contributed to the popularity of Bulgaria as an attractive tourist destination. The youngest member of the board of directors Rostislav Petrov was given the award and he used this opportunity to express gratitude on behalf of all Black sea friends’ members for the honour and the public recognition for the initiative of NGO “Friends of the Black Seas” stating that the organization continued to be very active on all issues related to the conservation of the living resources and to the healthy ecosystem of our sea.
“Friends of the Black Sea” is a non-profit organization that contributes to the popularity of Bulgaria in Europe and worldwide. Among its main objectives are conservation of living marine resources and sustainable development of coastal areas and regions dependent on fisheries. The members of the organization are actively involved in activities aiming at preservation of the Black sea ecosystem and ensuring the long-term sustainable exploitation of these resources in order the future generations to benefit.
The non-profit organization “Friends of the Black Sea” is member and partner for Bulgaria of Seas At Risk devoting together their activities to the preservation of marine ecosystem and healthy seas and ocean. This NGO is part of the Black Sea Advisory Council aiming to support the balanced representation of the interested parties and the NGOs regarding the implementation of the Environmental legislation and the Common Fisheries Policy of the EU.
The main objectives of this non-profit organization attracts the attention of many citizens, hotel and restaurant owners and business people, students, scientists and even small-scale fishermen using only environmental friendly fishing gears and many of them become members being united under the idea for having healthy Black sea.
The award was given at an official ceremony in the Central Military Club in Sofia.
